Aperture Challenge

I’m learning to play around with the manual settings on my camera more and more and so I decided to join the Bloggography Challenge over at Better in Bulk this week. The challenge was to photography something red or pink at different Aperture settings…let’s see what we got. Taken with a Canon XSi Rebel and a Canon 18-55mm lens. It was overcast and snowing out and since it’s not going to be stopping anytime soon, just excuse the poor light. The ISO was set at 800 for all the photos.

First up, my new baby, my iPhone with a pretty red case.

Then some Murano glass candy, the only red one I have. Don’t mind the dust please, I hate dusting, it’s so pointless…and I didn’t notice it until after I had taken the pictures and opened transferred them to the computer. The glass Gondola in the background blurs a little more as you go higher in Aperture setting.

On the first set, I like the higher Aperture photos more, on the glass candy, I prefer to lower Aperture photo.

  1. I really like your candy shots. I can’t decide which I like better, the high or the low; I like the detail of both pieces in the high, but I like the focus on the single candy in the low.

    Great photos!
